Encinitas Street Fair 2009

The 26th Annual Encinitas Street Fair is coming soon! On April 25th and 26th, over 450 arts and crafts booths will hit the streets, complemented by four live stages, kids rides, and a Beer Garden hosted by Stone Brewery.

Over 100,000 people are expected for this two day event, so make sure to get there early! Hey! You could even go both days and stay Saturday night here: Cardiff-by-the-Sea Lodge Located a mere two miles from the Fair location, we're the perfect place to unwind after a day of festivities!

Yep, another weather post.

We hope everyone had a really wonderful Easter with all their family and friends! The warm weather is trying to make an appearance, it seems, but these winds aren't having any of it!

At least the crazy weather gives us clouds that look like this:

This morning I got into work earlier than usual, and wow! was it beautiful. You know that amazing after-the-rain smell? Where everything is fresh and clean and fragrant? Well multiply that times a billion and that's what this morning was like.

Here are some pictures I took around the lodge.

Nickel Creek to Play on Wednesday

So this Wednesday: Hump day, the middle of the week, yuck yuck...not any longer! I propose a fabulous way to get past Wednesday -- a fabulous concert and then a quick drive up the coast to a relaxing stay at the Cardiff Lodge!

Take a look:

San Diego's own Nickel Creek is back...albeit briefly. This Wednesday they'll be playing at UCSD's Rimac Arena.

Not familiar with this insanely talented progressive acoustic angelic mandolin fiddle bluegrass band trio? Check em out:

Wanna hear their music? Here you go:

And of course, you'll wanna pick out a fabulous room to stay in after the fabulous concert: www.cardifflodge.com

It's inexpensive fun that's not too far from home -- so go on, find a babysitter and have a fabulous Wednesday. See you then!

With April Showers...

....come May flowers? Hmm. I think the saying may be a bit late for us! All over the lodge flowers are blooming - out of pots, up the sides of buildings, from behind rocks - in wild pinks, exotic reds and yellows, and springy whites. Hibiscuis and daisies and azaleas are all abloom!

At the beginning of each new month I like to research what interesting facts and figures I can discover. As it turns out, April is just chock-full of surprises. It is home to almost 60 monthly observances, about 50 weekly observances, and about 100 daily observances (Did you know today is April Fools, Boomer Bonus, St. Stupid, Sorry Charlie, National Day of Hope, National Fun Day, National Fun Day at Work, Paraprofessional Appreciation, Poetry & the Creative Mind, and US Air Force Academy Day?) Thanks to Brownielocks & the 3 Bears for this unique information! http://www.brownielocks.com/april.html

On a more local basis, I'll be adding a blog every week or so with some fun things to do in San Diego for the week. Here are your 5 Best Bets for the Week of April 2-9:
